colorbuffer.clearatrender

hello;

I have a plane that is 950400000 X 792000000 units; my camera is vector(0,32000000,0) facing the plane;

as I move toward the plane the plane flashes on and off -- the colorbuffer.clearatrender is TRUE; ofcourse if I set it to false no flashing occurs;

HOWEVER when I get much closer to the plane the flashing does not occur regardless of the clearatrender setting;

any thoughts?
