Hey here's a piccy of my Devil beast thing ive been working on for the past few days! Guess i've finished the modeling, but now have to bone it (ooer missus!!)
Any suggestions on the actual modeling, be cruel!
I really do need help with rigging it... tried, but failed, with points going everywhere and not much control!
Weight maps or not weight maps???

Good style. Funny stuff. Post some closer shots. It's hard to see the details. As for rigging, I don't see how you could pull it off WITHOUT weight maps... Just be patient. Rigging takes FOREVER if you want to do it well. Just tweak and tweak and tweak. ...but take bathroom breaks. Ten Four!

To b honest, wasnt expecting any replies.... my first time an' all!
He is sposed to be cartoony, but i was wondering if it was enough, and in my storyboards he has wings..... LARGE wings, its not gonna be easy!!

To be honest, i'm not that great at using weight maps...
I tried with this guy but only with the 100% strength on each limb, which doesnt work too good!
another prob is the way the bones move... the rotation is all wrong!! GODAMNIT

How about making the horns on his head match the tusks in his mouth? They look a bit odd in red, to my eye.

I was planning on doing that, just wondering whether i should have gone for the texture map option for everything or not??!!

I don't know about a texture. He looks good the way he is. But if you do go with a texture, make it simple. That is if you what to stick to the cartoon feel.

Hmmm, yeah i know what you mean, maybe just strengthening the definition between the muscles and stuff!
I was also thinking about vertex mapping/painting?!!
(i do too much thinking, not enough doing)
wings would be a good idea, afterall the devil is an Angel with two faces.
however they will have to be very big, and out of proportion in order to lift something that big of the ground.

Wings would be cool, but I disagree about size. I think that tiny, little, black wings that barely span to the biceps would be most suited for this guy.:D

To be honest, i agree about the tiny dark wings... but there's a prob....
the animation i'm working on is a group project at uni, another guy in my group is doing an angel and they are both competing for the attention of a woman!!
The little angel spreads his tiiiny little wings (with a 'pop') in an attempt to impress her.....
the devil lets rip with his HUUUUUGE great ones!
I might just carry on with this devil with a personal project, and then i'll give him smaller wings!
