View Full Version : SX-8 Problem

I finally connected an SX-8 to my VT[3]. Installed the card and all the connections made including the internal power to the SX-8 card. I've connected a deck via Y/c to the VIDEO INPUT #1 and RCA audio to AUDIO IN #3.

When I bring up BOB in VT[3] it says it's not detected. Is there something I need to do in Prefs to "turn on" BOB? I assume I have power going to the SX-8 card since it's split off the floppy power cable and the floppy is working. I checked to make sure all connections were making good contact.

I noticed in the VT[3] image of BOB there is a POWER light in the lower right corner (which is off) and on the SX-8 itself there is no power light. In fact there is no power connection on the SX-8. I assume it's getting power through the VT5 cable.

Also, with the above connections, the LED at VIDEO IN #1 is off.

Is there a magic ON/OFF switch for BOB?

Thanks,

Ken

Bob,
SX-8 is powered through the VT5 cable; correct.
That VT5 cable is getting power for the LEDs and Mic phantom power via a floppy-drive power connector that connects to the back of the daughtercard. (http://www.newtek.com/products/vt/support/vt3-install/vt3-hardware.html)

It's either a bad SX-8, bad daughter card, bad cable (VT-5), bad internal ribbon for VT-5, bad power connection to the daughter card or a bad connection with the bridge board.

Troubleshooting hint:
Run NewtekRTME from a command prompt, twice. The second time when winrtme starts you will get a window full of status info. In that mess you will find a line that either reads "Analog daughter card found at..." or "No analog daughter card found".

If it finds the daughter card the power connection is good, the bridge card is seated correctly and the daughter card is probably OK.

Problem has been resolved. It was an internal connector not making ful contact. All OK.

Thanks
