Swamp

I am just playing around some more. Trying to make an efficient swamp scene without long nasty render times. I still need a lot of detail any ideas welcome.

No alligators yet but maybe I will add one in the future. Still working on the environment comments and questions are welcome.

itslooking pretty good, you should change the picture in the backround a bit though, you can see where it repeats

I like it a lot! But maybe you can make the water a bit more blurry? Mostly the reflections. Oh, and if you haven't already, add a fast fresnel effect to it (for water, the angle should be at about 52°), for some slight added realism with little increase in render time.

I like the second one a lot!

Minor ponts for improvement, the shadows are too sharp, and the water looks completely opaque. Thouigh thart would hit your render time!

A little varitation in the ground level plant life would probably help.

Don't know what level of detail you are going for, but it seems a little bit to clean for a swamp.

I like the second image the best, how about adding some stone, rocks or boulders. The image is looking more like a lake with small creeks.

Did you use background image that is used in the camera view options and did you use clip maps or modeled trees...both perhaps???

The second pic is much better, but it still has some of that "been gardening" look -- it needs a lot more variation.
I agree that the water should be more transparent, but if you want to avoid that, just make it muddy & yucky looking.

yes, filthy water would be good. Maybe some ground fog would add to the swapmy effect?

Hey everyone thanks fore the comments and suggestions. I made some changes to the water. Hope it looks a little more real. I also fixed the repeating tree problem on the spear I am using for the background image as well as some other changes. Tell me if you think it’s going in the right direction…. ??
