Hello,

I'm wanting to make a scene that has the moon in the sky as it is seen in late mornings and early evenings--where the shadows of the moon blend in with the color of the sky.

I'm new to Lightwave 3D but I'm not new to 3D applications. I know Bryce 3D has this capability by using an additive texture. Does anyone know how to use Lightwave's surface editor to create the same effect/affect (could never remember the rule for those 2 words) ?

Thank you in advance for any assistance anyone can provide this newbie.

Yep, lightwave also has the additive option.

That's great news. Can you give me or tell me where I can find an example/tutorial of how to create such a texture?

Thank you,

GuyverZ

The "LightWave 6.5 Applied" book covers this.

And if you can't wait, you can just open the Surface Editor and click the Avanced Tab and start cranking up that Additive Transparency slider

...But buy the book anyway, it's well worth the money, as is the older "LW 5.6 Applied". As well as, (of course), any of the "Inside" books by Dan "Da Man" Ablan :D

Thank you all for your replies. I'm an experienced Caligari Truespace user that is making the conversion to Lightwave. It's like learning to walk again but I'm learning -- slowly but surely. It's great to know that there's a Lightwave forum that's willing to help a newbie. Forums for "other products" tend to be a little snooty towards newbies.

By the way, I have ordered the books you guys suggested.
