AT the moment (while im looking for freelance work), im making a small half life mod!

I haven't really come up with a story, but I've got some sweet levels made, and Im creating all the content in lightwave!!!!

Im also learning the joy of C++. trust me, Youve never learnt to swear, until youve learnt to program!

These images are of the weapons ive made in lightwave, Im limited to under 300 polys so don't criticise the lack of detail.

what u guys think?!

The pistols look very detailed from the side. How do they look at an angle?

I know Half-Life is famously mod friendly, but it's a little long in the tooth isn't it? Why aren't you targeting one of the newer engines?

wow, the pistols are good, i didnt think the Quake engine could support that sort of image quality.

Tho, the Ster Aug is well, kack. Firearms has a very good ster, go and look at theirs.

The sniper rifle looks great aswell.

If you need any help with making levels, i worked with worldcraft since 1.6 so im quite good with it. Have a look at spirit of halflife for a great script for HL, it is more powerfull than anything ive seen so far.

dont get out, Revise (ive done GCSE's)

Well, i have lots of reasons.

The half life engine is great fun to work with, it has a full sdk and the coding is all annotated! The quake 1 engine is also now totally free.

Another reason is that my computer is a dinosaur. roaaaar!.

Its 1ghz with 256mb of sd ram (sounds ok), but instead of a graphics card it has an "inbuilt chipset" making it totally rubbish.

It was going to be a unreal 2 mod, but unreal ed doesn't load on my computer becaue it needs 32 bit graphics!!! my 16 bit'er doesn't cut its needs.

I agree about the steyr. It was the first model I made.

as for the sniper rifle:

As a replacement for the steyr ive got a SA80!

I really hate the sa80. Last time i used one, my jacket filled up with hot brass, owch!!! I admit its acurate (me being worryingly good with it (3 cm grouping)) but its soo heavy and likes to suck in grit.

So to represent this, the secondary fire is going to be to unjamm it. :p

ps, I seem to have spent 5 hours on the forums

What is that..? a 30,000 round clip? that thing is going to need a spring from hell to force the rounds to the chamber..

Oops, i forgot; there is no spoon.. nice work.

hey come on the SA80A2 is not that bad, but good idea as a secondary fire, thats the first time ive seen that happen. (first sa80 probs)

Nice uzis, but wow a massive clip there, would put around 6 rounds in the chamber.

Were you in CCF or ACF (still in), what was the grouping at 100m?

Ohh dear, Kazaa, outlook and XP, not good at all (wonders where LW came from)

Ok firstly my brother who is at bournemouth uni got me lightwave. No kazaa dirty work, anyway, kazaa is too virus ridden to use anymore.

AS for the 3000000 round clip.... its like the duracell advert! keeeps gooooing annnd gooooing......

Im at an CCf in Devon Im not sure about my 100 metres grouping, but we did a shoot last month, and my score was maximum. 45/45

so it must have been within a 2 pence peice or around that.

300 polygons is a little low i think, even though it is the HL engine...it all looks kind of, dull to me....but that may be cuz i use CSRealism...go check that out, cuz they use highER poly guns and excellent textures, and it just seems like your models would look terribly good w/ just a little more polys

Half Life uses the Quake 2 engine which is now released under the GPL. Right now I am working on a game using the quake 2 max engine http://modscape.telefragged.com/q2max and I have to say Quake 2 running on open gl looks as good as Quake 3 or even Unreal Tournament 2003.

Half life runs on a "modified" quake 1 engine. So I think it is basicly quake 2.

It looks good, but the lighting engine is all prebaked. I wish they would make another graphics update, but instead of just adding lots of more polys, concentrate on real time shadowing.

I thought it was the Quake 2 engine..
but if it was Quake 1 modified there isnt any reason that you couldnt use models in game like that.

nice work - really like that KAHR K9, been lusting after one of those for years.
