Hi all,
I'm trying to export a Lightwave scene (LW8) to a RealFlow scene data(.sd) file. I've downloaded the latest plugin from Next Limit and can access the exporter in Lightwave.
The problem is, the exporter is only creating .mxs files. It doesn't even have a drop down selection for .sd files. I cannot find any information from the help program regarding this .mxs file format.
So, my question would be, how can I create a .sd instead of a .mxs? Also, what is this format?
One last thing, although it didn't seem to matter, the scene is bascially a morph of a hole opening in a pipe. Water and gas will then flow through the opening.

Have a happy wavin' New Year.

Are you acessing the RealFlow 3.o SD Exporter via the Master Plugins pannel? all you should have to do is load your scene into Lightawave, open the master Plugins pannel, add the RF Exporter, check the data on the Exporter interface you want to export, then select a path to save it to then hit the Save SD button.

in a lot of cases RealFlow 3 will actually Load in the original Lightwave Scene.
I dunno if it works with Endomorphs though.

Thanks for the info. I've done all of those things. I know it should be straight forward and the exporter works just fine. Its just that the exporter saves into this strange file format (.mxs) that RealFlow doesn't even recognize.
I emailed RealFlow, but they haven't got back to me.
Thanks again.

Next Limit did get back with me. They are looking into the matter. But,in the meantime, renaming the file with the proper .sd extension worked.

interesting. the MXS exetension - i think - is some kind of 3d landscape geometry
format. possibly theres some kind of plugin you both have installed in lightwave thats conflicting.

or it could be a deeper windows problem having to do with the way it saves files
internally.

try opening Explorer, and go to TOOLS // File Types and see if theres an MXS
extension in there thats tied to a specific program or something. if there is maybe
try and uninstall it...
