Would it be possible to have in our users profile a place for us to list our system configuration? That way when we post a question or a problem other members can click on our name and see our config. I often see the first responce to any troubleshooting question is "what is your system config" and having this info in our profiles will help members help each other better.

Making people do something in mass is most often unsuccessful. But if we were to suggest people do this, we could just have an abbreviated one line description in our signature tag so it is always visible.

Either version is a great idea! There have been so many times I have relisted my setup...... but having someone's config 1 click away would help to diagnose a lot of problems without a lot of unnecessary posting.

True, it is difficult to make everyone do one thing, but if there was a place in the profile for certain items like the following, more members might enter their own info. This would not only help new members understand what is working, but what members are using for different aspects of the video business.
Example:
VT[3]
Motherboard: SuperMicro X5DA8
Processor: Dual 2.4GHz Xeon
Memory: 2GB
Raid: 4x74GB Seagate U320 SCSI
Video: nVidia GeForce 4600
Primary Business: Hobbyist, video tinkering
Other Hardware Used: Sony DSR-500 camera, Sony DSR-11 deck, Mackie CFX-12 mixer, miniBOB
Other Software: Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Premier Pro 1.5, Adobe After Effects Pro 6.5, Adobe Encore 1.5, Adobe Audition 1.5
Maybe this is too much. Maybe this is too little. In any event, it will let members see at a glance what is being used. If I am having an issue, I know that the answers are coming from members that have equipment similar to what I have.
Just a thought. :D
