Hi,
Using LW 8.0.1 when i tried to open the sample scene space/moonbase LW starts loading it, then the LW looses all of its tabs, HD still spinning, next thing you know the computer crashed (reboots itself) event log says system dump.
Other scenes appear to work well, anyone know what might be the issue here, and how to fix it?
(Edit)
Note: I see im not the only one.

Loads fine for me. I'm wondering if a virus is the culprit. There was a trojan a while back that caused constant reboots. Granted it is slow in manipulating any details.

According to the thread you cross referenced, in addition to the virus threat mentioned there are three possible causes:
1. Too many polys for your system to handle
2. Noncompatible driver versions
3. Corrupt files
I would suspect, it's one of the four.

Tell us about your system. My first guess is bad video drivers. Do you have any way to monitor your cpu temperature?

well ran the virus checker to see if i had any virus, didnt find any.
I got a dual 2G Xeon with 512mb of ram.
nvidia gforce 5200 w/ 128mb of ddr ram
vt2card w/ vt4 software (and the lw8 version i am using is the stand alone)
LW/computer only crashes on that scene.
I noticed I had backed up the content of lw8 in a different partition. Will try to load it and see if that works.

ok scene can be loaded both the recent and backup, if i unload a couple of small apps. it takes a long time to load and it takes a long time to display, running task manager i can see that while lw8/moonbase is up it takes 1gig of ram (512mb or so of swap) so that is probably the issue.. not enough memory for this one scene.

Before 8 came out there were a number of complaints of large scenes crashing systems. I suspect this scene was deliberate to test the ability Not to crash.
