I set up a scene file aand exported it. The problem im having is when i open the .w3d file the scene is a lot darker/duller than in layout. Ive had to add about 4 lights to the scene to get a reasonable result but this still isnt as bright as id like.
Has anyone else come across this or have any work arounds?
Cheers
I haven't noticed what you are describing. Mostly my scenes look about the same brightness in Shockwave. LightWave and Shockwave have differences in what they can display. Perhaps you are using more sophisticated textures than I am.
I have noticed that scenes that look fine in Shockwave on my computer look darker on some other machines. There is enough variation (not just the normal Mac/Win thing) that I have sometimes included buttons to let the user increase or decrease the brightness.

Ive set the scene up with 4 lights 2 Direct lights at aprox 400% and 2 point lights at aprox 300%. They dont look to bad it was just such a big difference from what i was seeing in lw compared to director. I guess ill just have to play around with there positions etc to get the effect i need.
Cheers for the reply

Check and make sure your lights have been exported to Director, you may not be able to overcrank the values in the same way as in lightwave.

Hello Kaiten,
in Director the light color is importand. Do you have the 3DPI Xtra?
http://www.3dpi-director.com
Itīs shareware and very usefull to exame your Shockwave members. You can see every settings which can be set and play with them.
When you go to the lights you will recognize that there is no value for the intensity.
Only the light color will change the brightness.

You can bake the lighting and set it to 100% self illuminating and acchieve this effect:
