Have any of you guys ever come upon these file types..(.prt) or (.dwg)
i am trying to help someone out with these(engineering drawings?) and have no idea where they came from or how to open them?nuttin i have here seems to work(Photoshop/illustrator.etc.)
any suggestions...

I think they are autodesk-AutoCAD files.
*.dwg (drawing)
*.prt (part)
actually should be able to get dwg into modeler, I think. Not sure about .prt though...
As far as i remember prt are library files, but i could be wrong. And i think you cant import dwg into LW. Better get dxf or 3ds files.
rhino opens dwgs.. i think, but its PC only.

.dwg can also be opened in Illustrator.

Hmmm... illustrator will not open these? at least not here.

of course it might be the version of illustrator that i have(8)?

.prt files are from Pro-Engineer. I think that .dwg import only came in Version 9 of Illustrator. Have you tried using Ashlar-Vellum's Graphite app for the conversion (you can down load a 15day full working demo from their website. It will get your files into a dxf format or eps that LW will recognise.

Illustrator 10 does.
