Hello.
Does anybody know how to control Aura from/with VT script. I am trying to start animation and control the layers, but the only thing I found in VT script was AuraVT command with no description.
I want to use Aura because VT Cg does not have layers to turn on and off, and pages are animated as whole.
Another question. What are the differences between Aura and Mirage?
PS : I am very new at VT3 (got it in June), so I'm still at exploring and discovering phase.

I might be wrong on this, but I think the AuraVT command is simply used to LAUNCH Aura from a script, I dont think you can do what you are wanting to do, although maybe im just not understanding exactly what you're trying to do. If you are just wanting to turn video layers on or off, you might be able to chroma or luma key them from within VT-EDIT.
As for the difference between Aura and Mirage... Well... its sort of like Night and Day. Aura is an old program that certainly does what its supposed to do, but (and I could be wrong because I actually havent opened the VT4 version of Aura) hasnt been changed in years. Mirage pretty much blows Aura away and has so many NEW features that I'd spend hours typing them up. The easiest way to learn about mirage is visiting their website. HTTP:\\bauhaussoftware.com\
They probably still have a discount for aura/lightwave\toaster users and they are all upstanding folks. Steve Bowie (a regular on here) is somehow connected with them and responsible for some really impressive stuff, so you might want to quiz him with anything really specific.

There's a dde port there but it seemed limited from my perspective.
Steve Bowie is said to have 'enhanced' things to be able to accomplish such feats.

Thanks for fast replays.
Actually I need layers for different graphics and texts. For now I can feed Toaster CG from program with Toaster Script (practically all Toaster Script commands and scrips can be feed to control VT3) which changes text , but no animations can be done on objects (text or graphics).
Is there a way to control Aura/Mirage from outside program in the way that VT is entered or similar? Or to start George/Element Script ?

My George is rusty, but I vaguely recall a way to make an "autoexec" George script that runs when Aura starts? This might be a workaround for you (start Aura with VT, and the George script runs). If I'm wrong, sorry for the mislead.
Good luck! -MG.

The autoexec george script is an interesting idea (leave it to toaster users to figure it all out), but I cant help to think there has to be a much EASIER way to do what he wants done. I guess I just don't understand exactly what he's going for. Turning on layers of video can easily be done in toaster edit. But if he's going for some funky cool thing that requires AURA, the people to talk to would definitely be Steve Bowie or maybe Jeff White (from Visual Inspirations).

Thank You all for replays.
In fact I want to start some multi layer animations (or George/Element Script), with different layer on at different times and to change some text on some layer(s). Different layers contain besides animated graphics also text lines which are (and to be) externally controlled by our software (SMS, chat, info lines, weather reports ...) which sends Toaster Script to VT in real time at wanted times. For now I can control VT Cg, which doesn't have layers and animations are only possible for whole project/page.
And yes. I would like to use fancy stuff from Aura/Mirage but mostly, to use George/Element Scripts.
