This unit is rackeable, right ?

well... its possible to put VTR, SERIAL, TALLY/GPI, VTAUDIO and VT4/3/5 in the backside of the rack ?

Isnt very friendly to connect the rack front side connectors to the PC VT backside connectors.

Tkx in advance ;)

If you only knew how many times I have asked about that....

I agree but it didn't happen on the SX84 so it doesn't look to be going to happen at all.

I agree totally though.

Yes, Our rack looks just the same except we route all our cables through a 1 space hole below the SX84 instead of above. Just seems neater in regards to the VT cables that way.

Yes I think it works fine...but to do it justice you need to hook everything through a musa patch bay. I really think you have to think of the SX8/84 as a switcher and build it into a system same as you would withany other switcher.

The computer we're using for out VT4 is in a rackmount case, add in rear rails on the rack and we simply put the SX-84 in the back and run very, very short cables from the VTPro card to the SX-84....it would still be nice to have some connectors on the backside of it though, that way we could leave it hooked up, even when moving the rack.....

In both the systems we have built for ourselves and the ones we have sold, the key is to order the rack with 3-4" deep lids. That way the SX8 cables can be left permanently attached. One less thing to connect and disconnect. Ok actually 4 less things. Then we take all the extra cable and zig zag it on the side of the rackmount CPU to hide it out of the way. Since the air comes in the front and out the back this cable method doesn't add any extra heat. I should buy some 1 foot custom cables but I haven't had a reason yet. Those would definitely be custom cables and on the expensive side I am sure.

Except that the rackmount case we used is extra long (which we didn't know until we actually went to rackmount the system and found that no one made a case deep enough... except Grundorf's flite case. Stupid us forgot to check the lid depth... Oh well, I'll survive having to connect and disconnect 4 VGA's a couple times a month...
