View Full Version : Cloth Dynamics in kaydara imported animation

Hi there, anyone knows how to apply the cloth dynamics in an imported animation from MB kaydara, ????
I tried to do a setup but the deformation of the character mesh doesn't let me make a good Cloth calculation. As far i only have the character running to the camera while the cloth falls in to the ground.
Any ideas..?

Sounds like you have no fixed points.
Also sounds like you would be better off using the SBD trick spoken of on this forum. That should get you rolling in about a half hour.

I do have the fixed points for the calculation but the thing is the way MB do the deformation of the mesh. Also the COAT is a separated object parented to the main Character, i tried to put the COAT mesh into the same object with the Charactre but doesn't work fine.
By the moment i'm on Chilean National HolllYday on monday 20th i'll put the scene and objects in my server.
By the way, is really important the fact that i'm using MB kaydara to animate the Character and reimporting the FBX into lightwave via MErge Scene.

Oh...
Do you have the coat being driven by the bones of the main object? That would explain why it stays where it is.
MB shouldn't make a difference in this scenario. Did you look into the SBD solution suggested?
Go out and enjoy the day!

Hey UnCommonGrafx here are the files:
- the main scene with the woman running
- the woman without textures (to keep the file size smaller)
- the coat
I don't know how to drive the coat object with the woman bones.
If you can help me with this i'll be glad.

Chuckle,
Dude, you are virtually done with this thing.
You 'drive' one object with another's bones by pressing Shift-b when the object to be driven is selected; in the top slot, select the driving object.

Find the manual or press F1 for even more fun on what all you can do. ;)

Finally i can drive an obcect with bones of another, thank's man.. now its' time for the dynamics, i'll do some test and post them here.
thank's again.

Your tests will fail. :o
As I said in my first post, and rightly so, you have no fixed zone; nothing to follow the driving of the bones but not the cloth sim.
And if you go read the sbd stuff you would have an even easier time of it.
You will have a good piece of animation and a great deal of knowledge when done.

Pretty nice, big daddy!
I don't do msn so that's not an option. What you post here though, I will see it immediately. That, or email me; Robert at UnCommonGrafx dot com. I have yahoo messenger, if that's an option for you.
Looks like you ARE pretty much done. To be honest, and for the sake of seeing you to fruition, all you have to do is apply a collision to the body. Do a test. Look at all that energy!! That's your bounce strength. Have a play.
Enjoying this, you are, I hope. Your work looks fun, at least.
