When I capture video clips and stills, I use the scope to make sure the white levels are legal. (at 100 or below)

Once the clips and stills are loaded into TED, the white levels are very high. Using the brightness control in the edit window, I'm having to adjust some of the clips to -40 to get the levels back where they were when I captured them.

Is this a problem with TED or my SX-8?
I noticed there is a brightness calibration setting in capture preferences but the levels are fine (according to toaster scope) when I capture them.

Thanks

check the proc amp levels on your VT Edit. It could be that they are set abnormally high. I usually double check my VT3 by playing out color bars and setting the scope to proper levels.

The proc amp controls for TED were set the same levels I used when I captured the video.

The increase in brightness isn't consistent . All of the clips have an increase in brightness but some of them are almost blown out.

I tried riding the proc amp control while printing to tape but there are over 300 clips in the project..

I'm adjusting the clips individually. I'll order Mr. Tasa's legalization tool but I'd like to figure out why the video is suddenly doing this.

I first noticed it when I came back from vacation. The system was shut down for about a week. The only software I added was DVD workshop. (Strangely, ever since I added DVD workshop, my startup screen keeps asking me for my VT registration number again and giving me 45 days)

I saved my configuration before I added workshop. I may try system restore after I unload this current project.

Sounds like you are not logged in as the primary (Administrator)user of the system and possibly some one 'got to to the box' and backed you out somehow to a previous system restore point...

Sound realistic??

As for the video blow out issue, what format are you recording it in and have you checked the switcher DSK to make sure it is not enabled for VT-Edit?

I'll check to see if the switcher may have had DSK enabled. I usually only enable it when I want the CG to show up on program out. I may not have turned it off before I started capturing.

I wasn't aware this would affect capturing from main in....but it's worth a shot. Thanks

I capture from DVCAM via YC.

The registration screen doesn't show up all the time and when it does it's still shows I have 45 days. I tried reinputting the registration code I got when I first got the VT3 but it's rejected.

It hasn't kept me from getting into VT3 so I haven't checked with NewTek about it.
