the manual for lightwave i downloaded from this sight, but i thought that there was also suppose to be a tutorial book.

Nope, you can't download the tutorial pdf. The tutorials are only available as a hardcopy booklet for new customers or those who opted to fork out the $100 for the manual.

But don't fret. The tutorials are simply collected excerpts from Timothy Albee's forthcoming LightWave [8] Essentials book (I highly recommend it, btw). You could even pick up the previous Essentials for [7] book which has some of the same tutorials as well. Also, don't forget the 'official' tutorials available on NewTek's site.
