so i'm assuming they used LIGHTWAVE on the first miniseries? i have not watched it yet, being a big fan of the original film, but this might change my mind.

Yes! LightWave was used on the first miniseries as well. Area 51 won an emmy for their work in the first miniseries. I hope they repeat it again for Children of Dune..
