When you select a clip it snaps the play bar to either the center, beginning, or end of the clip. I don't remeber this being so anoying in the past but for some reason I am find that it jums when I don't want it to. Didn't we use to have the ability to turn the snap off in prefrences? If not can we add this option? Maybe I should have posted this in Feature Requests.

Normally the time bar shouldn't move when you select a clip, unless the oddly-named "track clip" feature is turned on. It's a checkbox down near the timecode display. There's also a keyboard shortcut (q?) which is how I often mistakenly turn it on.

I agree, it's quite annoying, I'm not sure what this feature is supposed to be used for.

If that's not what you're referring to, never mind... -MG.

I'm sure others have their reasons to use Track Clip but I on occasion use it for such things as:
Moving through the Timeline checking clips out without dragging or playing Clip Center Track can be used to get to a viewable place quickly on series of clips that have fades or DVE's on the heads and tails. Return you to a specific frame where you have decided to place Keyframes Clip Start or End Track can help you quickly find Timeline/TC/Dur info Check for clean first/last frames Get you to the end of a clip for a paste of the next clip
Thanks, I knew it wasn't doing it before and didn't know how or where it got turned on.

-MG. Only trying to give some suggested uses for those interested. Don't use it much myself...

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to bring alot of widely spaced clips together on the timeline? Is there a keyboard shorcut? I can't find it in the manual. I know about "Ctrl a" but that doesn't close the gaps between clips.

Open up the storyboard view and select all of the black boxes and delete them.

Also if you highlight your first 'empty' crouton in the storyboard and hit delete it will automatically jump to the next empty crouton.

Highlight the first, hit delete a bunch of times and watch the clips come together like ole Flat Top.

Thanks,

This is a great group; and it sure beats waiting on the phone for a tech.
