Hi 2 all

I am at the stage now where im considering things for my demo reel

i have been learning lightwave now for about 2 years solidly.

I have done some research, and this is what i now:

The demo reel should be between 3 and 5 minutes long.

it should concentrate on the area of animation that you would like

to be employed in.

what i want to know is about the presentation of the reel.

at the moment i have two character animations totalling about 27 seconds

but i have alot of test animations which round it up to about 3m so do

i put all this together, or do i create other animations then put them

all together to create a more polished look (stupid question i know) but i

mean would the potential employer want to see progression work ??

If anybody can help than that would be great !!

Thanks alot Andy Gee

It entirely depends on the quality of the stuff really! Ive just finished a Computer animation degree and we were told a few things.....

Do not include ANYTHING that you think is even slightly sub-standard, any dodgy walk cycles or anything that wouldn't impress.

If you're going for low-poly modelling or even high-poly stuff, blend some wireframe shots into the mix... models can look great but be an arse to rig if the topology is all over the place.

Think carefully about the soundtrack too, no swearing (which has been done...apparantly)!

Its always better to have a shorter showreel with great stuff than a long one with every bit of work in it. We were told that the most vital time is the first minute and anything after that may be watched if the rest is engaging and they want to see more.!!!

Sorry if they kinda obvious points, dont wanna patronise or anything!!

Hope it helps a tiny bit!
