Hello, can anyone point me to where I can find information on the compressions options and settings of those options for a quicktime file created with LW8?
Or offer a suggestion perhaps? What's a good combo for good compressions and quality? Or which options should I stay away from?
The keyframe every frame (default) seems excessive, is that a bad default value, or "suggested" default value?
Thanks very much!

Hi imnotmad,
The compression settings yoy choose depend greatly on you intended use.
is the video going to be played back from CD ROM, DVD or video tape, or perhaps the internet? Will the resulting file be the final work or will you then be importing it into a compositing app?
Let us know a bit more about the intended use if you can.
Matt

There's a lot to know!
In short, 1st render to image sequences (.tga, .tiff, .psd), then you can export them to any codec you want: Animation for lossless quality if you plan on using it in an editor, but just for viewing at home I'd use mpg4 set to at least medium, and use keyframes.
Keyframes can make a huge difference in filesize, I use anywhere from 5 to 360 depending on the length of the video and the quality/size I want ( I've had NO success using 'limit data rate to...'). You'll have to experiment if you want the smallest file size and good quality, every video is different -
