Hi, is there anyway to import video to a background? I'm trying to make a video with 3d enhancements, however without the original video in the background to guide me it gets complicated to make the right motion to the camera. Any help???

1. Yes it is possible to import a video to the background. In LW7, go to Scene, and click on Compositing. Next to "Background Image", click "Load Image" from the drop-down menu. Next to "Files of Type" change it to "All Files". Select the video file that you want to load and click open. It's pretty much the same as loading a picture except you have to change it to "all files".
2. Blue screen keying doesn't work like that in Lightwave. It is possible to do something like that if you have changed the blue to an alpha, in some sort of video editing program, but Lightwave does not key like that.
3. I could write a book on tips for video and CGI mixture, there's that much to learn. I'll post some tips later on but right now I am exhausted.
Good Luck :)

Well, you can do some sort of blue- screen effects in LightWave by using the foreground- key- option in the Compositing- tab.
It is not as sophisticated as compositing in a real post- app though...

I used to import videos like that (treating them like images) but it usually didn't work very well (for textures and such), but I didn't think about using it with the background option thx :D
For the bluescreen there's no big problem I use adobe primiere, it's best to mix the audio and the videos all together (I wouldn't know how to do so in lightwave :) )
Looking foward to those tips :D

You won't be able to scrub very good with the video as background.
After the video is loaded, make a preview and save it (background only). It goes fast
then remove video background, load preview.
Now you will be able to scrub realtime, tho bkgrnd is black and white (use to be last I used it in ver 5).
After all is set, remove preview, load video, render
