reverie

Hi, everybody:
I am a newbie to 3D, Lightwave and the Newtek forum. :) I pretty much suck at modeling yet (had to work up my nerve to post this) but I hope I'll get better. One reason I took up 3D was to re-create historical scenes and characters, and this is my first attempt. The subject is a Civil War soldier from Pennsylvania who died at the Second Battle of Bull Run. I'm trying to reconstruct him, using a frontal photo as a reference.
Haven't modeled the nostrils yet -- well, I did, but they got in a tangled mess, and I deleted 'em. Also, I know the nose is off. Anybody got tips on modeling noses -- and lips?
The texturing is a placeholder. I've put some trial textures on using Deep Paint 3D and Photoshop, but nothing looks right yet. Maybe the van der Byl book on texturing will answer all my questions. :)
Thanks for looking,
Jan
