View Full Version : FPrime slowing down / crashing Lightwave

Hello, everyone,

so, I bought FPrime yesterday hoping it would speed up my workflow. But at the moment the opposite is the case.

When I do either of the following:
1. Moving/rotating the camera a lot to find a good angle,
2. moving / resizing the FPrime window a couple of times, or
3. just generally change a lot (e.g. trying to add procedural
textures),
Lightwave first freezes for a few seconds, then works again, but then, after the next few changes come to a complete halt, refusing to "move" again. Sometimes even the whole system crashes.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Cheers,
Marc

PS: I use v1.02 with LW7.5c on a Dual Athlon (2GHz), 2GB Ram and a GeForce FX5200 with dual display.

I run an single XP1800+ 1GB RAM and an FX5200 graphics card.

I've found that LW can do that if I run it in Win98SE but if I boot into W2K I have no such problems, smooth as silk, pretty swift too.

I did some experiments and it seem the problems were caused by a shader (Simbiont). After I'd removed it from the surface (switching it off was not enough) everything worked fine. In the long run I would want Fprime to simply ignore the shader, though.

I'd also run a Windows update and install the latest nvidia drivers.

Cheers.
