Please dont say try and error..it will make me implode... I want to achieve stucco like how Wade got it..

Im sure many ppl would like to know too.

Ah, something like that ?! Used a few procedurals for that...and a lot of try and error, since it changes with lighting, especially the specularity.

Ingo thats IT!

Trouble is I forgot to say i was a newbie, im sorry but could u explain procedurals to me, or take a screen dump of your settings..

YES lighting angle make the different, BUT i dont know how to get the bumps ?

This is an old picture but the base is the same always. Just start with a procedural like Turbulence or TurbNoise in the bump channel and see how it looks when you change the parameters. And if you do test renderings don't forget to do them with antialiasing, because when i tested this it always looks nice without aa, but with aa it was to flat.

Do I use automatic sizing?

Not with a procedural, try to leave it at 1 m first to get an impression of the bump map, later you can scale it different. Maybe add the same bump a second time with a smaller size, although you don't like to hear it it is a lot of try and error, even for me. Maybe start with an image map and try to imitate it with procedurals.
Youre up very early, or are you just back from a party ? :D

Working through the night, as u can see im desperate..

I will try wat u just saud.. Somtimes though when i have done same to wat u said, i get a glitter effect as iff the bumps had specular on them..

Hmm, sounds like the bump settings are to high when you get that glitter effect. Or the shader settings give weird results, happens to me often with the TurbNoise shader.

Hey Ade if you have any concrete presets, try using them as a starting-point, then customize the settings until it starts to look right. Viper comes in handy here to show changes as you tweek it.
