LW 7.5 on OS9 or OSX?

Will LW 7.5/7.5c run better (more stable) on OS9 or OSX?

We can't get it running on OSX 10.2.8. Layout crashes when it opens and Modeler opens, but seems to not work.

We haven't tryed installing under OS9 yet. I'd like to know if we should even bother trying OS9 or just upgrade to 10.3.3.

upgrade to 10.3.3. LW is more stable on that version of Panther than on the version of Jaguar you are running.

Stable would be great. We can't get it to run at all. We have no problems running it on our Windows based boxes.

I'm sure we are missing something, but there isn't much in the LW manual about installing it and even less about installing on Macs. And I'm not finding anything about installing and configuring for Mac here on the NT site.

Well, if you have Panther laying around, go ahead and install it and update it to 10.3.3 and install LW 7.5, the update it to 7.5c.

It's been running like a champ since 10.3.3 was released on my PowerBook...there still are some weird mouse handling errors with it, but setting your setup to Tablet mode seems to fix that particular glitch.

DON'T GO BACK TO OS 9!! I have never been able to run Lightwave in OS 9 without troubles. OS X is by far the superior OS for Lightwave!!!

I've been running Lightwave 7.5c on 10.2.8 since the ATI hotfix was released. It's very stable! I have noticed a few little quirky issues, but nothing that stops me from getting work done. I've been putting off Panther due to the graph editor crash which I hear is fixed with 10.3.3

I guess it's time to make the leap!

Thanks for the help! We'll try the ATI hotfix. Now, where do I get this "ATI hot fix"? At apple.com or ati.com? I'm having trouble finding it. Does it go by another name?

I can confirm that OS X is much more stable for all versions of Lightwave after LW6.

Definitely go with OS X. Don't bother with OS9.
