View Full Version : Advice on devliering content (852X480P @ 60)

I've been working on a sizzle video for a gaming company to be shown at E3. All the footage delivered to me has been 4:3 and the final edit was finished a few weeks ago.

Apparently someone didn't supply all the specs and we recently were told that all videos will be seen on 16x9 plasmas. Well..okay, no problem. I've had to deal with this before and ends up I'll now have to deliver the video in anamorphic widescreen. I lose some picture info, but it's too late to try and re-capture new footage and start again. I can reformat the shots (even use the tool shed conversion tool) and everything can be fixed.

well...now I receive and e-mail saying this:

Please deliver 852X480P @ 60 (or actually 59.97, if possible)

(so, not interlaced)

Playback is on 16:9 Plasma screen with a 852X480 native resolution.

Please deliver as uncompressed AVI on DVDs with no more than 2gb per DVD plus separate audio file (WAV)

I NOW know 852x480 is the typical aspect ratio for a 16x9 plasma screen, but I've never had to deal with a request like this.

Sounds like my content in anamorphic widescreen should work, but I'm getting confused by the numbers.

Can any add any advice or help shed some light on this for me?

Thanks,
Greg

I usually wouldn't do this, but I'm affraid it's gonna get lost in the threads.

Thanks for understanding.

if anyone is interested...

I talked with some engineers here in L.A. and they confirmed what I kinda suspected - there is no 852x480P format @60fields non-interlaced.

Right now we're figuring the person sending out the info must have read the manual for the plasma screens and assumed this is the format everyone is supposed to send - being that plasma pixels are 852x480 (I'm guessing.... ). I've done some searching and found this as the specs on the plasmas I'm finding.

So...I'm sending this thing out as anamorphic widescreen and all should be fine. Now I only worry about who is putting this together for the presentation on the other end.

Nothing technical to add, but I'm watching your thread - let us know how it all turns out in the end.

I know what you mean - it's funny how often someone you think knows more than you can get you all worked up and running around - then you find out that they don't know what they're talking about and you were right all along. :p
