hi, i really want to buy a new laptop, i currently got a compaq presario 1400 amd xp, 16mb gpu (suxs i know), 368 of ddr ram and 30 gb hd. So u could probly understand why i wanna buy a new one, :). I'm not really the mac guy cas i havent spent alot of time using them and im 16 :S cant afford one of those lol. basically i need a laptop that can run lightwave 7.5 and photoshop (with no problems, no crashing etc). i want one with atleast 1gb ddr ram, 80gb hdd, but dunno bout gpu cas that then comes 2 which processor, i could go 4 the amd 64bit, or i oculd get the centrino or the p4 with 800mhz fsb. But then the p4 overheats :S and centrino only goes up 2 1.7, and the amd, well i have no experience withthe 64bit, and heat, also power issues, the p4 is power hungry. the amd, guessing power hungry and the centrino. also the problem with the gpu 64mb or 128mb, problem all centrinos come with 64mb at highest. but thats what ive seen so far. i need 5hrs battery life aswell. so if u guys are experts or atleast know more about it then me. pls help me. thanxs bubye

There's a thread about laptops here http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20826

IMHO, a good Dell laptop will sort you out. I've got an old Inspiron 8100 and it runs lightwave and photoshop no problems.

If you decide to go with Dell, haggle - I got around 10% off by doing so...

[edit] Oops, forgot you're only 16, tell your parents to haggle!
