I edit on Premiere Pro and Avid Xpress. Now I need to switch 2 or 3 DV cameras live. What are the advantages of VT3 over a standalone switcher such as the SE-800. Thanks.

I don't do live switching but will list a few obvious ones: Cost (not counting the computer)

Record your directing to Hard Drive

Have instant access and automatic cueing of graphics, clips, animations, CG's, etc.

Access to hundreds of 3D, 2D and Picture Effect DVE's including custom ones your can build

You get a super-fast open architecture NLE Editor, high-end award winning full version 3D application, unique and powerful compositing/painting application, built-in waveform and vectorscope and more...

Features are upgraded on a regular basis

Wonderful worldwide support community on many very active forums

A Project Manager who makes an effort to get to know you and be available for questions or problems

Access to Software/Hardware Engineers who respond to feedback quickly

Free Tech support for as long as you own it

I'm sure there is much more, I will let some who do live switching add to this...

With all that said there is still something to be said for a dedicated switcher and the one you mentioned looks very interesting for DV. I would like to see it's output quality and effects quality first though.
