Rhino and LW?

Hi,

If anybody out there uses LW and Rhino, perhaps you can help me.

If I have a sub-d object that I created in LW and I import it into Rhino, it comes in, but as a polygonal model. Can I convert this to Rhino's version of sub-d which I guess is nurbs?

hey slayer,

that's the problem, NURBS and SDS are VERY DIFFERENT BEASTS... they have almost as much difference as between polys and NURBS.

and actually, while SDS and polys have some useful commonalities, NURBS is alien to both.

there's no easy way to go from sds to nurbs using rhino. maya has such conversion capabilities but not rhino.

also, you shouldn't go in that direction....

if your model needs nurbs... start it as nurbs... and then send a super dense mesh to lw to render or what not.

rule of thumb - characters/animals/etc - polys/sds

cars/industrial design stuff - nurbs
