Hello,

This post may be out of place, but I figured there are a lot of brilliant artists here who probably know how to accomplish this.

I've seen alot of footage of animations, and even live actors, being displayed as a single color filled object. I've seen the Shockwave exporter for LW, but I need Director for that. Is there any easy way to convert footage to vector art? I've tried working with masks, frame by frame in After Effects, but it's very tedious. I'd like to find a solution that could be applied to LW animations, as well as video footage. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

I dont know if this will work ...but i dont see why not.

cant you just use the alph channel as a mask in one layer and lets say a red (or any colour) as a background.

so youll have a red sillouett of your character.

I'll have a look to see if i can make it work...it should

Yeah, that works to an extent. The other aspect is that I'd like to see edge lines as well. Using an alpha I'd only see the entire object masked out.

This is what i came up with.....

Edge lines....you dont make life easy :D

Could you also do an alpha of the wireframe render and have it as another layer???

Hay, yeah, looks good! Is there a way to render the front face wireframe only?

Still wondering, tho, if anyone's got a good technique for applying this to video footage of a real object...
