Being a brand newbie to VT3 I'm still learning the ins and outs, and am excited about the possibilities of toaster scripting. Now I am NOT a programmer, just a video guy. So if someone would be willing to do this for me, I'd sure appreciate it. But if there was a way to talk me thorugh this, I'd appreciate it too.

Here's the issue. I want to display our lyrics through the DSK, while they're all stacked up in a ddr. They're saved as a png file. Now I want to be able to have a transition between them, so when we change words, it's not a straight cut.

So now if I want to have that fade, the person running the ddr will have to hit play, on clip A
then let it transition to clip B
then stop it before it transitions again to clip C

But what if the person forgets to stop it, then it goes to clip C and the wrong words are on the screen...

Can a script be written that plays clip A, transitions to clip B, then STOPS just before it fades to clip C?

let's say each clip is 3 seconds long with a 10 frame fade.

So it would start playing on Clip A at 2:19 (just before transition)
Then when you hit play, it would do the transition and stop at 2:19 of clip B (again, just before the transition). Then play, then would stop at 2:19 of clip C. etc.

Does this make sense? can it be done?

I'll explain more if necessary. Thanks so much!

BTW--- Churches (like mine) would eat this script up if it were produced. And I mean that they would use it every week. Every song.

A next button would be perfect for this situation would it not????

I am working on some scripting ideas that might be able to help you. I will post them here when I complete them.

yes the next button would be great. as long as it plays through the fade!

it would rock the house.

i look forward to what you might be able to come up with Jef!
