Is is possible to save a weight map to the bone that it effects or do I have to reapply the weight map to the bone everytime I load the character into a new scene? I know how to do this but it is very time consuming having to reapply the map and it's strength every time.. Is there a way to save all of these attributes of the weightmap to the bones in the character?
Hope to get some response as I am about to begin a big project and this would be a great help

There are maybe better ways, but if you make a base
setup for the character with bones and weightmaps and save
that as a base scenefile.
You can later load the character into other scenes
by using the "load items from scene" command.
In that case all bones and weightmaps will be correct in the
new scene. Even if you need to rearrange the schematic view of the bones ;).

I will give that a shot, but I guess what I was wondering was if you can save bones to an abject and you can save the objects weightmaps, there should be a way to maintain the application of those weight maps to the specific characters bones on load up.
Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a shot

if you give same name to bone and weightmap, lw apply weightmap to bone when convert skelegons to bone.
i learn it when i start to use vertexpaint.
