Is it possible to render successfully in one VT3 desktop and use VTEdit in another simultaneously? The post office closes at 7:00 and I need to do two things at once! Thank You.

Yes. But,
It will depend on your system specs as to what it does to any work you are doing while rendering. Your secondary work will show some slowage.

A tip I found out. If rendering a TEdit project, save it, start it rendering then CLOSE that timeline & project completely. It will continue to render the timeline just as it should but then T is not trying to render the Rendered project and the Timeline for play at the same time.
frees up some resources.

If need be you can also start several renders at once thru the timeline or by rt clicking on a file in the bin and choosing render.

hope this helps,
Jim

Thanks for the response. I don't mind if my work in TEd is slower as long as multi-tasking doesn't mess up my rendered file. Am I correct to assume that the rendering process takes priority over other VT3 components?

Not sure of process priority but I do know that I have carried on like a mad man doing all kinds of other things while renders, sometimes multiple, were taking place and it never corrupted a render in any way.
