Hi all,
Here is my first serious attempt at a character.
It is totally done in LW using vertex paint rather than texture maps.

Please give me any comments you think suitable.

Thanks

That's a lot of vertices to be painting.... :D

Boy....that vertex paint must have taken along time to do :p

Great work.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments.

Embarrassingly this is not my first works. Normally I model very simple things and concentrate on the surface and lighting.

I can see there are some things wrong with the eyes. They look at bit flat, Well the face in general looks a little flat or bits of it are not in the right z 'depth'. I guess I need to look at a few more tutes. I followed the NewTek one given by UserDelta.

I hope to bake/save the surface as a texture so that I can apply it to a lighter version so it is usable in a game.

Virtex is very good but does not follow the Phantom Points that other tools do. Also the 'paint' can only be seen in texture mode and if a point is below the surface or blocked then it cannot be painted. This is such a great system and if it could be made more accessable then it would eleviate the need to make the more simple maps.

I will post an update in a few hours and any help is much needed.

Thanks
Gui Lo

Here's an update of the character I am doing. It is a test to apply for a games job so any comments/help is appreciated.

Nice, but the head looks a little on the small side to me.
