Hi,

anyone knows if there is a way we can freeze curves
in a "1 point for 1 point" level ???

Currently the Modeler's prefs allows us just a "Coarse" level
that already adds much points to the freezed curves.

That is quite annoying for me because I use much the drill command
with imported DXF curves that have a correct number of points
when not freezed but far too heavy when freezed.

Of course the trouble is that even if you drill or boolean with a
non-freezed curve the result with be what you'd get with a freezed one.

For the moment the only solution I have is to select all my curves,
one by one and point after point, convert all in 2 points polys before drilling :
what a waste of time !!!!

So… am I that stupid as did'nt see a faster solution before (and so : which one ?)
or is it one more basic setting that Lightwave misses (in that case I'll immediatly
re-write this message in the features requests forum…)

search Flay.com for FreezeSpline.

thanx faulknermano for the tip,

interesting script but unfortuntely not really usefull for my needs,
at least not enough…

With this script you have 2 solutions :

1/ you keep your curve as a curve (spline) but can't "delete"
points from it so you keep the same number of points and so…
when you will drill the drill will operate using the number of points
that are got when you freeze the curve in coarse level… so it does'nt change anything = your spline has 10 points but the drill will have 30 of them !

2/ you convert in face = you keep only 10 points but the creation
of the face itself adds an unwanted edge while your starting curve
was an opened one, and this last edge totally disturbs the drill !!!

the only way to drill correctly from open curves in this damn modeler is to use 2 points polygons !

OK let's go to the feature request forum…
