I'm going to buy a new computer.
Which is the best (not expansive) video boatd for LW 7.5?
And how about the ram?
If you have other suggestions,please tell me all.

If you're looking for games performance and only using a single monitor then a Radeon 9800 might be the way to go although a lot of people here favour nVidia cards.

I'm using an Albatron Ti4680 Turbo which is a stellar GeForce4 Ti 4200 - they can be had on eBay brand new for around £75 which is a total bargain.

The GeForce FX's are a bit quicker but I'd only recommend an FX 5700, 5900 or 5950 - the best bang for buck is the FX 5700.

"Pro" GFX cards are somewhat underused by LightWave (this may change with 8) and so for the time being I wouldn't recommend them.

I would go with the Geforce FX 5600 Ultra or 5700 Ultra. Don't waste your money on a pro card, IMO. I have a Wildcat VP 970 and it performs comparably to my old TI 4200.

Don't buy an FX5600 - the difference between an FX5600 and FX5700 is like the diffence between a GeForce4 MX and a Ti...

I´ve read that the difference between non-Ultra cards and Ultra cards is like comparing MX to TI. I might be wrong, but that´s what I´ve read.

True, but my point was that the newer FX5700's are replacements for the older FX5600's and perform considerably better - and you're right, go for the Ultra's every time...
