Defrag More Than Every Three Months?

This is really ugly. I've got a triple SCSI RAID that has been defragging now for half an hour. It sounds like a wheel is about to fall off. It took 15 minutes to go from 55% to 57% - Compacting Files. Is this normal????

If you got's lots of stuff on the raid than it can be normal.

When I defrag my raid of 200 gigs and it's quite filled up it usually takes all night. I got in the habit of launching the defrag before I leave for the night.

I'll second the all nighter. Your situation doesn't sound uncommon at all.
You didn't mention how big your aray was... the SCSI that is...stop it!:eek:

200G, 85% free, for now. It finally finished. One of those jump from 57% to 95% and then be done things. :rolleyes:
