I would like to be able to choose where a TED project is saved. By that I mean I do not want the Toaster to save a new project without asking me where.
Currently it does this the first time you start a new project.

Choose File, Save As... and you are prompted for a location.
Once you've chosen the name and location, you can then press Ctrl-s from then on.

I understand this. That is what I currently do. What I don't like is that you still have a project file saved in the toaster folder, created by the the program.
It's only like a 1k file and has nothing in it, but after time this folder can have 50, 100 or more of these files.

I'm sure I posted this somewhere else in the last 24 hours, but anyway ... most of us create a VT_Projects folder (or something similar) elsewhere on the system. This has two benefits:

First, you can find it :-p

Second, and much more important - -it won't be at risk of being accidentally overwitten when you update your Toaster version.

In my VT_Projects dir (on my 'E:' drive) are folders named (Aura_Projects, CG_Projects, and TEd_Projects). Each has aliases set and is added to the hotlist. All you need to do then is use ToasterEdit's "Save As" menu item once to move into the new folder as a default.

To put it another way; the first time TED does an auto save of your project, it should ask the user where to save the 'Untitledxxxx' project, instead of just automatically saving it in the Video Toaster [2] directory structure.

Furthermore, it would be nice if this were a setting in the prefs: 'Ask before auto saving project? Yes/No'.

This would be a significant benefit to new users who have thought they lost their project because they couldn't find where it was autosaving it.

Even seasoned TED pro users would like to know that the VT install drive isn't getting chocked with a bunch of Untitledxxx.ToasterEditProject files, undo folders and files.

I agree make it a prefrence. Like Speed Razor, it would let us tell it where we wanted all our project saved.

Gordon,
Thank you!
I thought I was the only one who understood what I was asking for.
I would rather it ask where EACH time, rather than automatically save to a predetermined place (even if you can choose) because I save each project file in its own project folder with the video clips.
Choosing the default location just lets me change where these 'auto saved" projects are put, but I still have the problem of unecessary files.
This would be a significant benefit to new users who have thought they lost their project because they couldn't find where it was autosaving it.
Funny yo metion this, because today I had one of my users not follow directions and he never saved the project to the correct place!
