the bend tool will do that for you.

the bend tool is very quirky, best thing is to bring up the numeric panel and punch settings in, don't even try doing it freehand it's an awful tool to use that way!

if I had my way I'd bin the one we have now and start again!

thinking about it, you're better off using the rail extrude tool with a profile of what you want!

For me the best tool and quickest is, believe it or not, Toroid.

Takes a few moments to get used to punching in the values, but once you are used to it, it's very fast, 100% reliable and accurate every time.

Just use it for the bent section and bevel out the straight parts.

The way I always do it is like this...

Create a flat disc, out one way or the other in the x or z plane.
Lathe, set to 90 instead of 360 degrees. Simple.

Poly count depends on original disc object, times number of segments that you lathe. 16 point poly, 24 segments, plus the two ends = 386 polys.

Always 100% correct.
I guess I do this because I so often use oddball angles, and want to key them in so I can easily get back to "0".

That's my favorite thing about Lightwave. There's 50 ways to do one thing. These boards are great for seeing new ways to do the same old stuff. Use what ever works.

See page 3 (at the bottom) of my tuts

re: http://www.suture.net/tutorials/modeling/page03.shtml

I use the Lathe Tool on a disk, which is quite easy.

I find it really easy to use the bend tool, it is a little twitchy, but don't forget you can hold down your >Control< key (on a Mac) to constrain the movements 15 degree increments.

Great suggestions from the other guys.
Also always have your numeric panel open, regardless of what your doing.
