I'm a newcomer to Lightwave 7.5. Can anyone lend some advice as to how to model a network of tunnels? I plan to surface them to look like veins with a camera running through the inside.

I would assume to use a ring and the extrude tool, but I am not proficient enough right now to know how to use it with confidence.

Any hints or pointer on how to make a tube like this, with branches that split off in multiple directions?

Thanks!

I would suggest trying the Magic Bevel tool in Modeler (under the Multiply tab). If you start with a box, hit the Tab key, then click on Magic Bevel, you will see small, round handles which you can grab and drag out of the shape. They are set to automatically taper smaller (this can be changed in the tools Numeric panel. After you are done dragging out tunnels, hit the enter key to drop the tool. Then select Magic Bevel again and you will handles on all of the new polygons you just made. You can Magic Bevel forever if you want to.

You also might consider extruding a disk, delete the ends and use the Thickener plugin to give the tubes some thickness. You should be able to find that plugin at Flay.com
