photoshop layer recognition

could u update the image editor so that it can read the individual layers in photoshop documents so that we can use just one file for the colour diffuse and whatever maps
and also have it read the alpha so that u dont have to make a clone of the texture and use alph only to get the transparancy to work

While it is an appealing idea, there certainly is a compatibility issue here. Adobe keep constantly changing the PSD format and adding new features. That's why most programs only read the flattened image data that is stored for compatibility reasons.

if anything it'll hopefully be a plugin that can be updated so lets let them take a run at it
