Hi all,
Has anybody been successful getting LW 8.5 64 bit registered on a Windows 7 64bit PC? It runs fine with the temporary License number, but when I enter the 64 bit key from the NT registration website I get "Bad license key format. Check the number and try again." I've hand entered it, copied and pasted, run as admin, etc. no luck. I've got the purple USB dongle. NT CS says 8.5 64 bit is only supported on XP64, just seems interesting that it runs on Win7, but the key "format" is what's holding it up. Thanks in advance for the help!

Instead of entering your license through the utility, edit the license.key file in notepad.

Yes, I thought of that too. The 64bit license.key looks a little different than the 32 bit key but I did enter the number in all sorts of different permutations. I got the "license key not found" box on startup for each of those. The 32 bit version of Layout and Modeler works fine with the 32bit key, so issue seems to be the 64bit key. I've confirmed with NT the key is "correct". Thanks for being the first reply, I appreciate the help.

Are you sure your 64 bit license is license.key and not license.key.txt?

Your license.key file can contain multiple license.keys, on separate lines. Equally, you can add info like these made-up examples:
1546-6987-3546-8521 //32-bit Windows Dongle ID 61472
6851-7895-3648-2542 //64-bit Windows Dongle ID 61472
6798-2358-6568-9731 //32-bit Windows Dongle ID 12186
7981-6548-6325-8741 //Mac UB Dongle ID 3874
So edit the existing license.key file that works and add your 64-bit numbers to it.

yeah, tried all that, no luck. Interesting that it works with the temp key but not my NT generated key. And the first error, the "bad license key format" is spit out by the Register.exe within the LW folder. Like it doesn't like the number but NT assures me it's the right number....

**SOLVED** Looks like some mathematical fluke happened and the NT registration computer spit out an invalid license key. I called CS this afternoon, they re-ran the registration process with my Lock ID and got a different, valid number that now works. Hats off to NewTek Customer Support for catching it, they were extremely helpful and I'm a happy camper now. Thanks to all of you for the help as well!
Thanks,
Wayne
