These are conceptual shots for the design of a simulator training centre to be put forward for construction. We were lucky enough to be let loose by our client with the building design as part of the visualisation remit.

@ mlon LW. Some PS work on the interior shots, Virtual Darkroom on the exterior shots. I keep looking at kray though, and I keep wondering if I should have a look at it for interiors especially. I'm only just getting into the linear workflow in LW and finding it's making a great difference to post work.

The walls are angled outwards from the base to reduce the amount of sunlight hitting the glass during peak daylight hours, but they maximize the amount of light entering during the rest of the day. The roof lines are angled to the most efficient (fixed) angle for the solar panels arranged flat on the roof, so there is method in the shape. As the simulators inside are based around offshore vehicles and workplaces, the entire building was intended to have somewhat of a hull feel about it, the towering of a large ship's sides over you, the visible walkways reminscent of decks.

Whats with the dark shadows above the 'pods'?

I think it must be a combination of not much light getting there, and what does get there is soaked up by the black paint. Perhaps a few more bounces would have helped there!
