Interlacing sucks

I shot beautiful non-interlaced hi-def footage and edited it with Speededit at 720x480 (because it's going to DVD), and when I finished editing and rendered out, the only options are INTERLACED or PROGRESSIVE-which is de-interlacing which cuts the resolution in half. Either way the image is being messed with. I want to just render the footage out the way it is now, I don't want to interlace or de-interlace(progressive).

And as for interlacing, when I ren:help:der it out interlaced, it jitters all nasty on TVs, meaning the field order is backwards. Is there any way to reverse the field order?? I hate interlacing !

Looks like if the project settings are Progressive and the Render out is either interlace or "project Settings", then it's ok. I wish there was a "don't change footage" setting
