Just curious about the timetable for the release of LW8 in relation to the Panther operating system. Does the finalization of Apple's new OS help you NewTek guys out with the finalization of [8] any?
Tidbits, anybody? ;)
BTW -- not fishing for a press release here. I appreciate the work you guys are doing for us users, and I'd rather you take the time to make a super-stable and efficient [8] than throw me a bone. Curiosity notwithstanding. Heh heh. Keep up the good work!
I had one of the Lightwave resellers in NSW phone me last thursday and told me that they have copies of LW8 in stock. She didn't believe me when I told her that it hadn't been released yet.
I'm not sure which one it was becuase I sent emails to a number of the listed resellers on the New Magic site.

In an interview with 3DWorld magazine, NT has promised that LW8 will be ready by their deadline - ie, before year's end. I figure we have less than two months (I mena, who wnats to be working on code in the run-up to Christmas?)
On Panther, I hope NT is working with it, as there's a really nasty OpenGL thing going on with Layout. I posted about this earlier, but having used LW since, it's pretty bad. Every time you want to rotate the sceen or move the camera view, the whole grid flicks about to a different viewpoint - very annoying.
I never had any problems with NVidia cards. This is my first time on an ATI... may be my last.

interesting comments... makes ya wonder. heh heh. (if only riki could remember that reseller.. ) true, the total possible number of days we have to wait is steadily decreasing as we near the new year... :D
just wondering -- are Lightwave releases usually both platforms at once, or staggered with one platform becoming available before the other? my first guess would be that they come out at the same time, since it isn't even two different boxes for PC/Mac versions. yes?

In the past, Lightwave releases are concurrent, if they are a point/half-point release. Patches and bug fixes are usually a day to a week behind on the Mac end.
