Is there anyone by chance using Marmoset Toolbag in conjunction with Lightwave? Am taking a Workshop through CG Society (Modern Game Art Weapons), and although you may use any 3D Package for Modeling and such, we need to use Marmoset bringing in at best obj's (Quads) or FBX that it can also accept.

OBJ is prefered, as we will also roundtrip with Z-Brush for the Workshop.

However, I can not get any of the obj's or fbx's from Lightwave 10.1 into Marmoset in any way. They come into Blender fine, and also into 3D Coat, although it looks like the obj's are being triangulated coming out of Lightwave.

While I was able to get obj's from 3D Coat into Marmoset, some come in fine, others are not coming in fine.

Anyone with any good ideas? Anyone using Marmoset? And, why do I not find any options for my OBJ export out of Lightwave?

Cheers,

"In any way". Does that mean no geometry? No UVs? Lost materials?

Nothing, no Mesh, nor anything else..... leaves the load area blank, which usually shows the name of the loaded mesh.

Ok, might be getting there slowly. . . .

Turned off the Z-Brush Mode and then came in, but did not see any mesh. It did show though, a Triangle Count of 178...

Changed the Scale for Export to 500% and then this time did see a/the object....

The Mesh was all messed up... but ... will keep testing and see what comes up.

Also just downloaded the Demo of PolyTrans to check out.

If it's coming in very small, the program might be hitting precision problems which is screwing up the mesh. Possibly scale up in LW before exporting so there's fewer errors. I had a similar problem when I first started exporting to Unreal as LW's m equaled Unreal's mm or something so scaling up x100 before exporting seemed to sort things out.

1.0 in LW means 1 meter, but in other 3d application 100.0 might be 1 meter, so 1.0 is 1 cm. so it's like Dodgy said 100 x smaller, giving impression nothing has been loaded.
