Hello everybody

I have a scene where the camera is viewing my characters legs as he walks !!

The problem is the ground isnt flat its uneven. So how do i get his feet to stay on the uneven floor as he walks ??

I have tried the follow path method with little results !!

Does anybody else have an idea on how i van do this !!???

Cheers Andy Gee !!

Stuff like that require that you animate it appropiatly :(

I'm sure that an expressions wiz could help you come up with a nice expression that could evaluate where your characters feet were on the terrain and have it return the value of the ground at that point in space but I'm not that person to tell you that...

If you're manually animating the walk cycle, I would just be eyeing it to see that it looks right. If you're using a looping walk cycle, you just have to go in there and tweak each step to make sure it's not going through the ground or floating above the ground. It's not easy but nobody said animation is easy.

this thread is about how to put a boat bobbing about on a stormy sea, it might help if your terrain is made with a displacement map as it uses an array of nulls to calculate the angle of the sea and adjusts the angle of the boat (or feet perhaps) to sort of match. The original tutorial for this was in issue 37 of 3dworld mag and perhaps its somewhere on their website. www.3dworldmag.com the tut was by benjamin smith of stormfront digital pictures.

hope you find this helps
