I am running Lightwave 7.5 Build 572 (April 4, 2002) on:

G4 - Dual Gig
OS X (10.1.5)
Built in Memory = 1 Gig
L2 Cache = 256k
L3 Cache = 2 Mb
NVDA, GeForce4MX
Dual Monitor
Wacom Tablet

I have found LW to be extremely slow with only a modest scene. I noticed the screen redraw in the Desktop Images tutorial DVD lessons are all full surface shades as they manually run through the animations' frames. My redraws are very slow and redraw only as wirefrane as I move an anim through the frames.

Since I don't do a lot of anims this doesn't worry me as much as the following ...

LW is crashing everytime I use it. I have reinstalled twice.

What am I to do?

Could some of this have anything to do with creating my own folders for objects, scenes, etc outside the content folder?

Please help ... I am hooked on LW in a big way and need this to work out.

LW is crashing everytime I use it
will assume layout?
is it:
just fainting while working"the app....
has unexpectedly quit"poof gone.

Crashing on render(F9)

or crashing when you quit?

LW ... not Modeler ... crashing at various moments.

Unexpectedly Quits.

When I "F12" back to Modeler, when I "F9" to render, when I try to select another object in the scene to view, when I move back to LW from Modeler, etc.

Exactly Poof! Gone!

Ok try this.if you havve custom settings tools etc. your gonna lose them.
go to user/library/prefs
file and trash all LW prefs and empty trash
now launch LW. LAyout/plugins/edit
rescan plugin directory.
quit layout. now you should have anew set of clean prefs.
do the same with modeler.
launch,rescan plugs and quit.
should help, also noticed you are running the hub which i think is responsible for alot of squirrley behavior. i dont use it.
hope this helps.

This happened to me as well when i first started using 7.5 on OS 10.1. One of the newtek tech guys told me to go to the lightwave folder>Backup Configs> and then running the initconfigs program. It seemed to do the trick because afterwords i just had the occassional unexpected quit when closing lightwave. I set up my own directory and that doesn't seem to do anything funny. Hope this helps.
