LightWave output no file extension for LWS and LWO

I have a problem suddenly that LightWave will not write the *.lws or /.lwo extension and neither for rendered output....

in Explorer I have to manually append the correct extension

any help?

reinstalling LightWave? good God no... all the plugins again.....

Are the lwo/lws- files still associated with modeler and layout (in Windows)?

Not a lightwave problem, it's a windows problem. You have probably installed something recently that doesn't like .lwo or .lws file extensions.

Do a restore to a point before the problem started.

You don't have 'hide extension for known file types' turned on in the Folder Option of windows by any chance do you?

Do the files still have their corresponding icons? If so, it's probably that.
