I was just wondering if game development in regard to NewTek products was kind of declining? I hope not!
Also, wb to me. This is my first login since 2009 i think.

I am in the process of learning game devlopment and use Unity as my engine of choise -- though I wil lbe learning the cryengine as well. I use LW for all my modeling work of course and am delighted with the more robust FBX tools in 10.1
I hope to see this thread and entire area get more and more lively as time goes on.

Hey AF
Can you write down your Unity workflow? Is there any areas we should be careful before exporting..? I am very new to Unity ..and really need to know limits of FBX export..
A fast video tutorial would be so nice :)
Thanks

Here's some material that may help.
1st, for some insights into FBX within LW, take a look at this short (3) part series :

and of course, check out Rebel Hill's magnificent stuff, esp his LW & FBX:

on my channel, I demonstrated the DAZ -> Unity workflow (makes a great fast way to get character assets into Unity)

Hope these are of some use :D

I am still developing game content with LightWave! I use it as my main package!
Lightwave is great when going into Torque3D and Unity3D. The only problem I have is getting Character Animation into CryEngine. This has been a big problem since LightWave does not have an exporter for that. You need to have the file in .chr or .cga for vehicles.
I do go outside of Lightwave to create UV Maps in UV Layout for all my objects. I use ZBrush to sculpt all my characters or some organic features such as Rock Faces. Painting is either in 3D Coat or Body Paint.
Hopefully we can show more stuff in January!
